Doing research takes time and effort!
As I mentioned before, my major is liberal studies and therefore, my research has to do with liberal studies. I first thought I would do research on "steps to becoming an elementary school teacher," but then I decided to narrow it down and focus on something that I never really thought much about; obtaining a teaching credential. I've always known you have to go to school and get your bachelor's degree and earn your teaching credentials, but never knew exactly what it was or what was the process to gaining one. I thought that doing research on this topic would be no sweat and straightforward, but man I must say I underestimated doing research. I took hours going thru many different websites until finally after about three hours of search I found the right one. I learned so much by reading the information, but not only that I learned how to evaluate sites and find reliable websites. One of the things that I learned after doing my research is that in order for you to earn your teaching credentials, you must have completed a professional teacher preparation program and student teaching; at the level you desire to teach.
I first began doing my research by trying to find a reliable website by searching for it on Google, once I finally found the one, I then went into SAGE knowledge. I felt more confident and felt like I could trust SAGE reference more because of the criteria outlined in our Badke textbook. I have to say that the CRAAP test was a success and I will be using it more often now because it definitely helped me feel more secure when it comes to finding credible sources. I am looking forward to finding out more information on my topic because there are still some things that I want to understand better. For example, I want to know if there are programs I need to complete before and/or after obtaining my bachelor's degree to earn my multiple teaching credentials.
